I had the pleasure of thanking my brother, a veteran of Desert Storm, for his service in person this morning in Charleston. When I told him I would be speaking and thanking our Veterans today, he reminded me not to forget those military personnel who lost their lives at Ft. Hood. The tragedy that took place last week is a reminder to all of us that our men and women in the military sacrifice in many ways, both on our soil and off.
This Veterans’ Day, as we remember and honor our veterans on their day, let’s not forget that for what they do – keep us safe, keep us strong, and protect those freedoms which we hold so dear – they deserve our thanks every day of the year.
May God bless our men and women in uniform, past and present, and the families that sustain them, as they fight to sustain us and our way of life.
