Lexington, S.C. – State Representative Nikki Haley today announced that applications for the 2009 Nikki Haley Scholarship are now available.

“I am excited that for the fifth year in a row, I am able to offer three scholarships to deserving students in our community,” said Rep. Haley. “My hope is that these scholarships will help some of our brightest students to go on to continue their education here in South Carolina.”

Three (3) scholarships of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) each will be given to graduating high school seniors or homeschoolers residing in S. C. House District 87 which encompasses Lexington, Gilbert and Red Bank. Applicants must have plans to continue their education in South Carolina at either a four-year or two-year technical School.

Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence, embody the principles of good citizenship and leadership, and show a strong commitment to their school and community. A committee will screen all submitted applications and interview the finalists.

Completed applications must be returned to the school Guidance Department by Friday, May 8, 2009 or mailed to P.O. Box 47 Lexington, SC 29071.
