Last Thursday I announced my campaign for governor of South Carolina. It’s sure to be an exciting, hard-fought race and there is plenty of work ahead. But I am confident that our message and our passion for good government and true fiscal responsibility will sustain us through next year’s primary and general elections.

We need your help. Together we will show everyone in South Carolina what a transparent and accountable government can look like.

My race for governor is more than a campaign. It’s a movement focused on bringing good government back to you — the people it represents. It’s about bringing common sense back to the way government fosters job growth, improves education, and protects the rights and freedoms of our citizens.  And it’s about finally reigning in the reckless spending that has gone on for too long — if we’re spending too much we aren’t being good stewards of your money.

Since my announcement we’ve had such a wonderful outpouring of support from you through email, Facebook and Twitter, and we’ve seen media outlets throughout South Carolina and the nation report on the race.  It’s been an exciting couple of days — and it’s just the beginning.

Here are a few highlights:

- In The State, I said “I know what good government can look like. I’m running for governor so the people of the state will know what it feels like.”

- CNN quotes Governor Sanford, who said, “Nikki Haley is a true conservative and one of our state’s leading voices for fiscal responsibility and government reform. It’s too early to endorse anyone, but I would say Nikki Haley would make a terrific and inspiring choice as governor, and she’s a great addition to the field of candidates.”

- On WLTX News19, I discussed my campaign for governor.

I sincerely hope you’ll consider donating your time, talents, and gifts to our campaign. With your help, we will continue to spread our movement and our message. Your contribution is needed and very much appreciated. (Click here to contribute)

With your help, we can and we will transform South Carolina from a state that too often finds itself at the bottom to one that sits proudly at the top. Please join me as I roll my sleeves up and show you what good government can feel like.

My very best,
