It’s time for action and I need your help! I have worked very hard this past year to get the public their legislator’s votes on the record. After a brutal fight this summer, both Houses passed a Rule in January that has allowed us to see more legislative votes on the record than ever before. A rule is temporary and controlled by the legislature. H. 3047, the Spending Accountability Act, requires that ALL votes be on the record. To pass this bill would make it a permanent law.
I formally requested this bill be given a hearing. The hearing has been scheduled for April 21st at 2:30 in Blatt room 521. Please contact the members below as well as your House member and let them know that this Rule is effective and you want ALL votes on the record passed as a permanent law. These votes belong to you and the legislature should not be allowed to decide which votes you see and which you don’t.
Letters, calls, emails and attending the hearing will all make a difference. Letters to the editor and passing this e-blast along to your friends are all grassroots ways of making a difference in your government. Let everyone know that Rep. Haley’s Spending Accountability Act H. 3047 needs to pass committee and allowed to be voted on by ALL members of the House. Only then we can see who supports transparency. Thank you for your constant support of me in this effort to hold all legislators accountable.
