“Gov. Nikki Haley vowed Tuesday to help South Carolina employers lower the cost of doing business. Haley was in Anderson visiting one of the county’s largest employers — auto technology manufacturer Bosch. She took a 45-minute tour of the 26-year-old plant off S.C. 81 near Interstate 85. John Kuta, plant vice president for manufacturing, said Haley’s visit was well-timed, given the company’s 125th anniversary this year and a company picnic to mark the occasion next week. The governor and Kuta met with reporters briefly in the plant’s lobby after the tour. ‘Having Gov. Haley here is such a privilege,’ Kuta said. ‘We’ve been partners with the governor’s office for 40 years.”… Haley said her office supports policies that will reduce the cost of doing business for existing manufacturers. ‘Jobs are the focus of my life,’ Haley said. ‘We’ve got great companies.’ She also said she has more job announcements coming for the Upstate.” (Anderson Independent Mail, “Governor promises to reduce cost of doing business,” 8/31/2011)

“Gov. Nikki Haley said Tuesday that a program to train South Carolina’s labor force in skills needed by employers is in the works and will be rolled out over the next several months. Haley detailed the plans here at a luncheon put on by the Greenville Chamber and Greenville Area Development Corp., where she also told of closing two deals for new companies — first reported by GreenvilleOnline.com — and three for expansions of companies in the state at the recent Paris Air Show. ‘My No. 1 focus is jobs,’ she said. ‘The future for South Carolina is bright. ‘Can’t’ is not an option for this state.’ Haley toured the Bosch plant in Anderson earlier and visited Greer in the afternoon.” (Greenville News, “Haley offers training assistance to workers,” 8/31/2011)
