Columbia, S.C. – Today, Representative Nikki Haley filed paperwork with the South Carolina Republican Party to become the first female Governor of South Carolina, and released the following statement:
“The elections of 2010 matter more than they ever have before, both on the state and federal level. We can no longer elect people simply because they look good in a picture or hold a baby well. Instead, we need elected officials who understand that they work for the people, not the other way around. We need elected officials who understand the value of a dollar, who understand the people pay this money in and that how we spend it matters. And that’s precisely the mentality I will bring to Columbia as the next governor of South Carolina.”
