State Representative Nikki Haley, Republican candidate for South Carolina governor, today issued the following statement regarding Governor Sanford:
“I have said since the events of June that Governor Sanford has a great deal to prove to the people of this state, first and foremost that he can spend the remainder of his term making a difference for South Carolina. The allegations of misuse of public funds against the Governor are extremely serious and the burden is entirely on him to prove that they are unfounded. That said, impeachment is an act of unprecedented severity in South Carolina, and I remain willing to listen to the facts in full before deciding whether I believe it is the appropriate action in this case.”
