H. 3047 Spending Accountability Act passed subcommittee today. This bill would require legislators to vote on the record. Legislators should not be the ones deciding what votes the public sees and what they don’t. I continue to believe in making this Rule, that we were able to pass in January, a permanent law. It is the first step to a more accountable, transparent and effective government. This will be heard in full Ways and Means Wednesday the 22nd at 2:30 in room 521 Blatt. I still need you to contact the committee members and your own representative to let them know that these votes belong to you. Thank you for your emails, calls and for traveling from all over the state to be here today. It all made a difference. Thanks to subcommittee members Chm. Denny Nielson, Rep. Herb Kirsh, Rep. Murrell Smith and Rep. Brian White for their support.
Thanks again. I won’t stop until we get the trust and accountability in state government that we all deserve and want in South Carolina
